The film is reportedly due to be released in 2025 and down in the comments, horror fans couldn't get enough of the film's hilarious trailer. Someone joked: "This is getting outta hand now," while another person wrote: "Oh this is going to be absolutely horrible. I can’t wait!"
Another horror fan questioned whether Shiver Me Timbers "has anything to do with the actual Popeye story," as one person gushed: "That's the gnarliest pipe I've ever seen!"
"This is cinema," said one fan, "I cant wait lol," added a second as a third chimed in with: "This is pretty dope." The film is directed and written by Paul Stephen Mann, co-written by E.C. Segar and stars Tony Greer as Popeye, Amy Mackie as Olive Oyl and Leona Roberts as Lizzy.
According to the film's IMDb page, horror fans can expect Shiver Me Timbers to be released 1 March 2025. The film is described as a "comedy horror" and according to reports "there are numerous hidden references and Easter eggs from 1980s horror films sprinkled throughout."

Strangely enough, another Popeye horror flick is set to be released soon. Popeye the Slayer Man follows a group of teens who manage to sneak into an abandoned spinach-canning factory in hopes to film a documentary about the Sailor Man, who haunts the area.
After watching the trailer, excited horror fans couldn't wait to share their thoughts and one person wrote: "They know what they are and they are embracing it. This looks so bad it’s good," as another quipped: "Showing all of the deaths in the trailer sure was a decision."
Popeye the Slayer Man is made by Salem House Films, Millman Productions, Ron Lee Productions and Otsego Media, directed by Robert Michael Ryan and scripted by John Doolan. Jason Stephens plays Popeye along with a group of young actors as the teens.
