Anthony Edwards Appears to Take Subtle Shot at Celtics in Latest Adidas Ad

The NBA season is upon us, and it is sure to be an exciting one.

The 2024-25 season tips off on Tuesday night with two games between four teams that are more than likely playoff-bound teams. One of those teams who are looking to take that next step is the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves, led by their superstar guard Anthony Edwards, are ready to make his mark as the ultra-mega superstar that some believe he already is.

This season will tell us a lot about Edwards and the T-Wolves. Nonetheless, there is no doubting his confidence in himself and his squad—so much so that he took a lie detector test for one of his newest commercials for this new AE 1 Mid and Low shoes.

In his latest Adiadias commercial starring Edwards, the two-time NBA All-Star takes a lie detector test and gets real honest. Below is the hilarious video and a breakdown of what fans must know.

The commercial is brilliant, and although it is funny and lighthearted, he appears to take a subtle shot at the 2024 NBA champions, the Boston Celtics, and the entire Eastern Conference.

The polygraph test administrator asks Edwards if the Celtics had an easy route to a ring, and Edwards responds, "Nah, they earned that. The East is tough." However, the polygraph detects that this is a lie.

In addition to that "lie,' Edwards is also asked if the new guys entering the league will take his spot, Edwards answers that they are "really good" and could take his spot. The polygraph detected a lie.

Edwards was only one series win away from potentially facing the Celtics in last year's NBA Finals. Instead, the Dallas Mavericks eliminated him and his team in the Western Conference Finals, 4-1.

Questioning whether the Celtics had an easy road to the finals has been a topic of discussion, especially during their playoff run. The Celtics faced teams that were not at full strength, starting with the Miami Heat in the first round, who were without Jimmy Butler.

In the next round, the Celtics faced the Cavaliers, but they were without Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen. In the Eastern Conference Finals, Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton missed some, if not the entire, series against the Celtics.

Each of their Eastern Conference Playoff opponents had a star unavailable in that series, and some say that might have affected the outcome. Nonetheless, Boston faced whoever was in front of them and got the best of them.

The Celtics have what Edwards wants, and if he wants to take it away, he'll have to earn it against a tough Western Conference first.
