A waiter who is said to have spent time with Liam Payne hours before his death has hit out at accusations against him.

Former One Direction star Liam tragically died on October 16 aged 31. He fell from the third floor balcony of a hotel he was staying at in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October. As the investigation into his death continues, a waiter, Braian Nahuel Paiz, 24, was arrested in connection with the incident.

However, despite reportedly admitting taking drugs with the star before his death, Paiz denies selling them to Liam. In a furious statement, Paiz said: "They say I'm the dealer, that I carry drugs, that I sold them and the truth is that no, no I didn't sell them."

When asked by TMZ if he used drugs with Liam on the night he met the star, Paiz added: "Yeah, there was. There was cocaine - there wasn't even a lot of it but we had some with whiskey."

He claimed to the publication that he did not accept the singer's money for the drugs and claimed the One Direction star wanted to offer him his Rolex. However, he said he declined this offer too. "I didn't accept it," he said. "I didn't accept anything just a drawing that he drew which were part of my eyes, nose mouth."

Paiz is said to have met Liam at the restaurant where he worked two nights before his tragic death. He has previously addressed the allegations made against him on television. Last month, during an appearance on Argentinian TV, he claimed he first met the singer at the restaurant where he worked in the upmarket neighbourhood of Puerto Madero. He claimed the pair exchanged details as Liam was dining with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy and two other people.

Speaking in an on-camera during an interview with journalist Guillermo Panizza, the waiter said: "I never supplied Liam with drugs. Liam's first contact with me was at my place of work... We swapped details and saw each other later that night. It was all normal. He came down from his hotel room to fetch me because I had got lost."

In a TMZ documentary surrounding Liam's death, businessman Roger Nores, who is believed to be one of the five people under investigation by authorities, claimed Liam had been in "good spirits" on the day of his death. He claimed the star was "perfectly balanced" prior to his death, despite wide reports suggesting Liam had been in a frenzied state just hours before. It has been reported that the singer was drunk and disorderly soon before he fell from his hotel balcony - and one hotel employee called emergency services before the star's death.

Describing the last time he saw Liam, Nores told the documentary: "I left like at 4:05, or so, and he was in good spirits. He was perfectly balanced, talking to everybody, having fun, laughing, so nothing out of the ordinary. So that's when I said, 'bye'. He seemed playful and happy. I went to the hotel three times to check on him. He seemed tipsy but nothing out of the ordinary and that’s when I said, ‘Okay, bye’."
