Honestly, what does it say about me that I kinda still ship them?
High School Musical is a childhood staple. In my eyes, it truly goes down in history as one of the greatest movie-musicals of all time (argue with the wall).
Well, I recently learned that HSM is officially 19 YEARS OLD and it's made me feel extremely old. But today I have a story that's about to fix that feeling, and instead fill your heart with warmth. Like, it's impossible not to laugh or say "aww" when you hear this.
As we all should know, Ashley Tisdale (AKA Sharpay Evans, the queen herself) now has two children with her husband Chris French. She gave birth to her younger daughter Emerson in Sept. 2024, and her older daughter Jupiter is now three years old — which is the age that many of us were when we first saw High School Musical.
Ashley has previously spoken up about how she doesn't think she'll watch High School Musical with her kids. But I guess things have changed since then, because guess what? Three-year-old Jupiter (baby Sharpay!!!) has officially watched HSM, and she made the funniest mix-up ever.
Ashley recounted the full story on a Jan. 15 episode of the Breaking Beauty Podcast. "She has seen High School Musical," Ashley said. "I think about a year ago, maybe, my husband showed her it. I was like, 'What are you doing?'"
As it turns out, the movie was a bit...confusing...for Jupiter. "She thought Zac Efron was her dad," Ashley explained. "I was like, 'No, that’s not Daddy.' She was like, 'Daddy!'"
And the reason why Jupiter made the mix-up, Ashley suspects? It's simple: hair colour. "Just cause they have dark hair, it's not Daddy," Ashley continued, laughing.

Like, come on, HOW FUNNY IS THAT?!? It's quite possibly the most adorable thing that could've come out of Ashley's daughter watching HSM. I'm also just very happy to hear Gen Alpha gets the Zac Efron hype.

Zac was my first big crush. How can you not fall in love with him after the HSM movies?!
Plus, as it turns out, High School Musical isn't the only project Jupiter has seen. "It's really funny," Ashley continued, "because she knows I do, like, Phineas and Ferb, 'cause she can hear my voice and she's seen that," she said.

Ashley's daughter also loves seeing her walk red carpets at premieres and other events — including the recent Wicked premiere. "She literally has to watch that. She says, 'I gotta see Mommy on carpet!'" Ashley explained. "That's the most exciting thing to her — that I'm on a carpet at the Wicked premiere that I had nothing to do with."

"She's just so proud to see me on that. It's really cute."
