At least 10 people are dead, and as many as 35 injured after a driver intentionally drove a truck into a large crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans’s French Quarter early on New Year’s Day, according to FBI and city leaders at a press conference on Wednesday morning.
“He was hell-bent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did,” said the city’s police commissioner, Anne Kirkpatrick, at a televised press conference on Wednesday morning.
CNN, ABC News, and Associated Press said the gunman was killed at the scene, citing unnamed officials. The incident is being investigated as a suspected act of terrorism, the officials said.
