Ayo Edebiri Pays Homage To Julia Roberts’ Famous Golden Globes Look

When Julia Roberts made her Golden Globes debut in 1990, the actor turned heads. At the time, the event was dominated by glamorous gowns and traditional evening dresses, making her choice to wear a gray suit by Yves Saint Laurent—with its masculine cut blazer, crisp white collar, patterned scarf and loose trousers—a radical departure from the norm.

While some critics were less than impressed with the Pretty Woman star’s sartorial choice, Roberts—who was a rising star in Hollywood at this point—was ultimately branded a fashion icon the world over. Today, this outfit is used as a reference point in fashion. And today, actor Ayo Edebiri paid homage to it in near identical get-up.

Edebiri, 29, who is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical series for her role in The Bear, wore an oversized gray suit by Loewe complete with a 14 karat gold-dipped feather tie. Her hair was tinged red and tightly tonged to match that of Roberts’, and her makeup was achieved with Armani Beauty products. Edebiri’s stylist Danielle Goldberg even added in the round-toed dress shoe.

As for her makeup, Edebiri’s makeup artist Dee listed the products she used.

“To create the perfect base for this cat eye look I used the Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Foundation and Concealer for a smooth glowy skin like finish,” Dee began. “Using the Luminous Silk Cheek Tint in ‘Flaming Red’ and ‘Vivid Coral’ on her cheeks for a peachy flush, followed by the Luminous Silk Glow Bronzer in ‘110’ and ‘120’ to add some warmth and dimension. Topped it off with Luminous Silk Acqua Highlighter in ‘Rosy Bronze’ to add a glow from within look.

“For her eyes I used the Eye Tint Long Lasting Liquid Eyeshadows in shades Wood, Ebony, Cashew, and Desert,” Dee continued. “I tied it in with the Eyes to Kill Lengthening Mascara to create a fuller lash effect. To top off her lip I used the Lip Power Long Lasting Lipstick in ‘110 Mania’.”
