B&M shoppers are impressed with a “genius” product they need for their homes - especially after spotting its low price tag.

Budget-friendly retail chain B&M is known and loved for its eclectic selection of affordable items, selling everything from food and drink to DIY supplies, accessories, furniture and much more. Like many of its competitors, the store utilises social media to keep customers up to date on all the newest product releases they can expect to find in store.

In a recent post on Instagram, B&M shared video footage of its new wireless, battery-operated table lamps which can be used all over the home without the need for a plug socket connection. The lamps come with either an on-trend sage green base or a versatile black base, with a natural, linen-look lamp shade on top. They require three AA batteries to operate.

Captioning the clip, the store penned: “Light up literally any corner of your home with these NEW cordless lamps, only £12!! These battery-powered beauties are all about style, convenience, and no MESSY wires!” The post pulled in more than 1K likes in less than 24 hours, with eager shoppers flocking to the comments section to share their thoughts. One person simply said: “Wow” while another said: “They are such a great idea and a bargain”.

A third commented: “Love these” while another said: “Omg need”. One shopper was thoroughly impressed with B&M for adding this type of lamp to its shelves: “Omg amazing!! Love that you stock these now”.

Someone else was keen to track them down: “Okay, I’m obsessed! What a GENIUS idea. I need one for my kitchen”. Another shopper echoed these sentiments: “Now the search is on to actually find them.”

Some customers had a different view of the product, though. One person said: “Would've been better if it was USB for recharging” while another, who claims to have bought and used them, shared: “I have these and they’re great for about a day and then go really dull”.

Others were undeterred. One fan tagged a friend and said: “I desperately NEED the green one if you go before me” while another lamented: “Not that any of my local stores have them. Absolutely terrible in the south west!” Many shoppers tagged their friends to direct them to B&M’s post.

The beloved British retailer was founded by Malcolm Billington and Brian Mayman, with the first store opening in Cleveleys, Lancashire, back in 1978.

Its now famous name comes from its founders, though it was originally known as Billington & Mayman before being shortened to B&M. Since its conception in the 70s, it has grown and now boasts more than 880 stores in the UK, as well as 104 stores in France.
