Paul Hollywood has opened up on his unlikely friendship with a Hollywood star who occasionally texts him to tell him what she's "been up to".

The Great British Bake Off judge shared that the hit Channel 4 series has quite the star-studded fanbase, including the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Michael J Fox, and Lynda Carter.

He even got a shoutout from Kylie Jenner, who told her whopping 390 million Instagram followers that Bake Off is her "favourite show". And Paul has now admitted that he does get the odd update from none other than Blake Lively.

Speaking to The Times, he said: "I've got a lot of time for Blake. She texts occasionally, sort of to catch up on what she's been up to, what Ryan's up to. It's lovely, because regardless of their job, they're just a normal family, mum and dad to some great kids.

"They're really nice people. I like that communication. I don't have many friends who are celebrities, it's not me. I don't go to a lot of red-carpet stuff. I don't go to the parties up in London. I don't like London."

Paul, the sole original host left on Bake Off since its 2010 debut, previously opened up about his struggle with "severe" carpal tunnel syndrome. He developed the condition after kneading dough since he was 17 at his family's bakery having left Wallasey Art School, reports Wales Online.

The presenter is grappling with the nerve-wracking prospect of losing all feeling in his hands if he doesn't receive medical assistance. Yet, he's confessed that he's petrified of surgery and has instead reduced his baking activities as a way to manage the problem.

Recounting his ordeal on the Graham Norton show, Paul explained: "I've got carpal tunnel syndrome in both my wrists, it's severe. It was diagnosed about four years ago, I went to speak to a consultant about it and he said 'Listen, you're going to have to have an operation'."
