Dean McCullough has sparked debate among I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! fans since joining the camp, but his Radio 1 colleague Danni Diston has come to his defence.
Despite facing numerous trials and even shouting 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!' twice, tensions rose when he had a run-in with Coronation Street's Alan Halsall over camp chores.
Danni quipped about Dean's lie-ins in the jungle, contrasting them with his early starts for the radio show, where he's known for his upbeat nature. "I did think in my head he's probably having a bit of a lie in out there," she said, adding that he's enjoying the extra rest.
On air from 5am, Dean is usually the one cheering up early risers, and Danni told The Sun: "I have never really experienced a grumpy Dean so I'm lucky in that sense. I don't think he's a very grumpy man. He does early breakfast and you have to be quite up and on it to do earlies."
She suggested as reported by the Mirror that his minor clash with Alan might stem from fatigue or the increasing hunger in camp, noting the incident occurred while Jane Moore was left gathering firewood alone as Dean slept.
Camp leader Alan attempted to rouse Dean for assistance, as Jane was in need of a companion. Despite Alan calling out and explaining the situation, Dean barely reacted.
After failing to get a response, Alan quipped: "Do you not fancy it? No? " Dean showed no sign of a reply, prompting Alan to go off with Jane. Soon after, Dean arose and caught up with them, saying to Alan, "You can go back now."

Surprised, Alan said, "Oh you made it! I was trying to wake you up as soft as I can." Dean retorted, "If you're gonna wake me up, you need to give me a minute. Listen to me. If you're gonna wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes me a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, alright? So you don't need to say to me 'do you not fancy it? ' Okay? And then don't turn around and walk away."
Dean's frostiness wasn't limited to this incident. On Monday, despite celebrating Maura Higgins' birthday which lightened the mood, there was tension when N-Dubz singer Tulisa, having moved out of the Leaders' Lodge, warned Dean about early musical theatre performances – a warning he cheekily chose to defy.
He declared, "Now that she's out of the Leaders' Lodge, Tulisa has warned me that there must be no musical theatre early in the morning, so I made it my mission to make sure the camp woke up this morning with the sound of lovely singing!"
