Putting your passion out into the world can be difficult. And Harry Hamlin learned this the hard way when he sent Bethenny Frankel a jar of his homemade pasta sauce. The Real Housewives of New York alum didn’t just not like it, she really didn’t like it! And she shared her reaction through a series of faces with all her followers to boot!
I guess you can only expect an honest review from Bethenny, although you have to wonder if she maybe should have just messaged him privately. Though you never know, her scathing review may make more people want to try his sauce to see if she was right.
Honesty is the best policy, according to Bethenny Frankel
Bethenny has always been honest (almost painfully). Like the time she shared her critique of the new RHONY. So it’s not surprising, she’d be honest now.
The former housewife posted her review on TikTok first thanking Harry for sending the sauce and plate (which she said she’d be re-gifting). She also added they came inside a beautiful picnic basket.
Then she set up a blind taste test where she tried a spoon of Rao’s pasta sauce and a spoon of Harry’s rosemary red wine sauce.
Bethenny turned up her nose after trying Harry’s pasta sauce during the taste test with the help of her assistant. Bethenny called Rao’s sauce “nice” but was instantly appalled by Harry’s sauce, quickly shaking her head and making a face.
“No!” the SkinnyGirl Cocktails founder exclaimed. “I don’t know what that is! No, I can’t! Sorry!” She gasped and covered her mouth with both hands. She went on to further share that she didn’t like the taste of vinegar or wine in the sauce.
“It’s rosemary red wine, but I don’t know that the world needed that,” Bethenny added. Her assistant even got in on the action and agreed with Bethenny saying the sauce was too strong. Harry’s daughter commented that she had to cook the sauce first. Bethenny later uploaded a video of her cooking the sauce with pasta but she came to the same conclusion.
To be fair, Bethenny did look sad that she had to share her honest opinion and she didn’t look like she wanted to dump on Lisa Rinna or her husband. At the end of the video, she tried to offer her help.
“Here’s my pitch,” she said. “Business is hard, so maybe try another flavor. But business is hard so you’d rather have a friend tell you than hear from a bunch of strangers. This cannot represent Harry and Lisa.”
