Blockbuster Trade Proposal Sends White Sox Ace To Phillies For All-Star Plus More

The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to make waves with their roster this winter. This includes moving on from players like Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm, who could be shipped away for solid value in blockbuster trades. But it also includes adding on where the roster has massive holes.

One spot where the Phillies need to add is in the starting rotation. Taijuan Walker filled the team's fifth starter spot and was unplayable toward the end of the year. The Phillies have been rumored to be in the trade market, with Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet being the trade target of their dreams.

FanSided's Chris Landers has pitched a trade that would make the Phillies' dreams come true, sending Crochet to Philadelphia for a loaded package in return. And it makes a lot of sense.

Here's the full deal pitched by Landers:

  • Philadelphia Phillies receive: LHP Garrett Crochet
  • Chicago White Sox receive: 3B Alec Bohm, RHP Taijuan Walker, OF Justin Crawford (No. 3 prospect), SS Starlyn Caba (No. 4 prospect)

Unlike a lot of mock trades, Landers took a very reasonable approach with this one. Walker is added to the deal as a salary dump. It's salary Chicago doesn't need to worry about since it's not contending, while that same salary is crucial for the Phillies to clear.

This allows the true return to be All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm and two of Philadelphia's top four prospects. The key part to this deal is that Philadelphia is moving significant value while also holding onto its own top two prospects.

Crawford and Caba fit exactly what the White Sox want. They're two young and talented position players that could grow and develop in Chicago's system. Bohm, obviously, has a lot of talent as well making him the centerpiece of the return. There's no reason the White Sox wouldn't do this deal.

Philadelphia is looking to move Bohm anyway, but it would get quite the return on investment by acquiring Crochet. Making a deal for Crochet would give the Phillies quite the dream rotation heading into 2025.
