Boyfriend Said 'No More Cats'—Then Kitten in Dumpster Changed Everything

2 weeks ago 3

The moment a kitten found in a dumpster was given a second chance has melted viewers' hearts online.

Julia Comeau (@juliaa_thecatlady) shared a touching video of her boyfriend, Will, deciding to keep the kitten, despite his initial reluctance to adopt more cats. The clip has garnered more than 307,392 likes and over 2.9 million views on Instagram.

Comeau told Newsweek: "One night, we were both sitting in the bathroom, wondering what we were going to do with this kitten. I was making a case to keep him, but Will said a gentle 'no.'

"Then, as if he understood, the kitten climbed off my lap, and walked right over to my boyfriend, climbed into his lap and started making biscuits. He climbed up his chest and started rubbing his face against Will's face. He made all the biscuits he could, purring the whole time.

"Will looked at me, and said, 'yeah, OK. We're going to keep this kitten,'" Comeau added.

Two years ago, just before Christmas, Comeau had spotted a Facebook post about stray kittens near a local Pizza Hut and tobacco store. A known cat colony in the area had been spayed and neutered, meaning these kittens were likely dumped. When Julia arrived with a can of cat food, the first kitten had already been adopted, but the second—a frightened and feisty tabby—was still there.

"I was warned that the kitten had already bitten two people," Comeau said. Despite this, she managed to catch him after several attempts. The kitten was in rough shape, with an eye infection, a head wound, and obvious signs of starvation.

Comeau FaceTimed her boyfriend to show him the kitten, but his initial reaction was skeptical: "Now what? Do we even want a kitten?"

Comeau took the kitten to the vet, where he was treated for his injuries and given antibiotics. Although she tried to find him a new home, no one stepped forward. By the time they arrived back home, the kitten was purring in her lap. "I knew then that I wanted to keep him," she said.

Comeau set up a space for the kitten in the bathroom, complete with a blanket, toys, and food. Her boyfriend later spent an hour sitting with the kitten, who initially trusted only her.

In the video, the gray tabby can be seen in Will's arms, kneading his biceps. The heartfelt interaction melted viewers' hearts.

"The cat gets to bake biscuits and he gets a tiny biceps massage. Everybody wins!!!" one viewer commented.

"Omg [oh my God] the way he looks up at him," wrote another user.

"He's a keeper. The BF [boyfriend] and the kitten," said Anne Marie.

"Well I mean cmon! She's making biscuits on his biceps! What man could resist that?!?!" added another cat lover.
