Brave Helena Christensen, 55, strips down to swimsuit to take a dip in frozen lake

SUPERMODEL Helena Christensen tries to play it cool in a frozen lake.

The brave Dane, 55, went for a swim after temperatures plummeted in New York.

She wrote on Instagram: “It’s not as hard as it looks . . . OK it is.

"I love the entire ­ritual of this and more than anything the thought process that happens in my mind prior to, during (my mind goes numb) and after entering a freezing river or lake.”

Actress Julianne Moore, 63, commented: “I don’t know how you do this."

Last year, Helena said of her career: “I figured I can model for a little bit to travel the world and bring my camera to take photos and just explore and discover.

“The funny part of it is, to me, the modelling for many years was about a great opportunity to learn about photography.”

The model also confessed that she used to buy and wear used men’s underpants.

The brunette said: “I didn’t have fashion magazines, but as a teenager one of my favourite stores was a secondhand one.

“I would buy men’s underwear and ballgowns and pair them together. That was my look, it was funny.

“I feel so much joy going into a little store and looking through all these pieces that belonged to somebody else, perhaps many, many decades ago."
