Brittany Mahomes Lip-Readers Translate Her Message to Taylor Swift

A Taylor Swift fan believes they've decoded a part of the chat the pop star had with Brittany Mahomes at the Kansas City Chiefs game on Monday.

Mahomes and the "Bad Blood" singer were on hand at Arrowhead Stadium to watch their NFL-playing partners help their team defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Swift has been dating Travis Kelce, the Chiefs' tight end, since 2023, while Mahomes is married to Patrick Mahomes, the team's quarterback.

The women have become fast friends since the romance between Kelce and Swift blossomed, often attending Chiefs games together in the same VIP suite.

Footage of the pair talking during the game has appeared online, with social media users intrigued by Mahomes' reaction to something Swift told her. The singer covered her mouth with her hand, making her words inscrutable. But one user on X, formerly Twitter, said they knew what Mahomes said in response.

"I'm dying to know what Taylor said," user @rennyfin wrote, adding, "Brittany said oh is that what that was about."

User @reqnights, a Swift fan account on X, posted the video of the women talking, writing in the caption, "The tea was good"—inferring that whatever Swift told Mahomes seemed juicy.

Others seemed to agree, including user @swiftiesmafia, who replied, "Haha tea was really good."

The exchange was not the only interaction during the game that got the lipreading treatment.

Fans also analyzed what Swift said to others in the VIP suite, including Kelce's mom, Donna Kelce. The singer's brother, Austin Swift, and mom, Andrea Swift, were also in attendance. Her mom sported a jacket that said, "In My Chiefs Era"—a reference to Swift's relationship with the NFL player and her record-breaking Eras world tour.

According to the Swift fan account @SwiftNYC, the singer apparently said, "Stressful," after the game to those in the VIP suite, likely commenting on the close score between the home team and the Buccaneers.

The Chiefs won the game 30-24 in overtime after the Buccaneers scored in the final minute of regulation amid rainy conditions. The Chiefs won the coin toss in overtime, and thanks to some skillful play by its quarterback, the team got the ball downfield to running back Kareem Hunt, who scored on a 2-yard touchdown run to seal the game for the home team—allowing fans at Arrowhead Stadium, including Swift, to breathe a sigh of relief.
