Making the playoffs was more than the Denver Broncos could have asked for this season all things considered.

The Denver Broncos' 2024 season concluded on Sunday with a 31–7 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round. Now, rookie quarterback Bo Nix is speaking out about an injury he suffered in November.

Nix confirmed on Monday that he played through three back fractures down the late stretch of the regular season.

He sustained the injury during the team's Week 12 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. The discomfort arose in the first half, but it was exacerbated later when Maxx Crosby took him down hard onto his back in the second half.

Despite the setback, Nix finished the game completing 70.4% of his passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns.

Nix was listed on the Week 13 injury report with a back issue, which has since been diagnosed as a transverse process fracture — a break on the side of a vertebra in the spine. He is dealing with three of these fractures in his back.

"The biggest week was I had a transverse process fracture in my back,'' Nix said, per Mike Klis of 9News. "That week got treatment, made it through that week. Monday Night Football was a stretch where we were all kind of banged up. And I wasn't going to miss the first Monday night game. I got treatment on it and then we were fortunate to have an off (bye) week the next week and it kind of went away after that. That moment was annoying but we all play with something."

While Nix's back was treated that week, he had a convenient bye week in Week 14, then continued to play without missing any time, leading the team into the playoffs with a 3-2 record to close out the campaign.

"I wasn't going to miss the first Monday night game. I got treatment on it, and then we were fortunate to have an off week that next week. It kind of went away after that. It was annoying, but we all play with annoying [ailments]," Nix said.

The future looks to be bright in Denver with Nix having guided the Broncos to the playoffs for the first time since 2015 when they won the Super Bowl with Peyton Manning.

Nix, the sixth quarterback taken in the first round of the 2024 draft, played every game this season and set a Broncos rookie record with 3,775 passing yards and 29 touchdown passes.
