Camila Cabello performed in a nearly empty arena at a festival over the weekend, and it caused a stir on the internet.
After a photo of the singer performing in a largely bare venue at the AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! Concert in Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday went viral, social media users on X, formerly Twitter, shared their thoughts about the “embarrassing” moment.
“That shit was EMPTY,” one person wrote, referring to the artist as a “flop.”
Another person questioned, “why do some singers do this? if you know u cant sell arenas why do them? isnt it just extra costs for no reason and embarrassment?”
“Lil wayne being there the day before and it was packed.. it’s just embarrassing i’m crying,” someone else wrote.
Other X users defended the former Fifth Harmony member, clarifying that Cabello’s performance wasn’t solely her show and was among a string of performances during the College Football Playoff National Championship weekend.
It was for the college football championship weekend. A one off show, and not where her fan base typically lands. I used to despise her but went to the show because I heard about it last minute and liked her latest album. It was actually a great show!
— Anthony Sanchez (@sancheezmo215) January 21, 2025it’s not her tour or her show. It was a show for college football by at&t that wasn’t promoted at all. it wasn’t even on her website.
— DavidR (@_romdav) January 21, 2025Because it’s not her show ? It was a sport event she was invited to, she didn’t even post about it and is literally getting paid to do it so it’s a win for her
— 𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚💌 (@hinarimey) January 21, 2025this is a football game she showed up for not a concert of her own

Meanwhile, a desolate arena wasn’t the only thing drawing attention at Cabello’s Jan. 19 performance, where she performed songs off her latest album including “I Luv It” and “Chanel No. 5.”

During her performance, she sported a navy bedazzled tracksuit with multiple cutouts that stole the show. She paired the backless ensemble with matching sweatbands on her wrist and bicep.
