Captain Glenn Shephard Hints He May Fire Chef Cloyce Martin

Season 5 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht might be coming to a close soon, but that doesn’t mean the crew still can’t get the boot. Captain Glenn Shephard could let any one of them go at any time. Just ask former deckhand Emma Crouch. And Chef Cloyce Martin might be next on the chopping block. The twenty-two-year-old wunderkind talked a big game regarding his chef skills when he came aboard the Parsifal III. Unfortunately, Cloyce has not lived up to his hype. So, will Glenn send Cloyce packing?

Captain Glenn says he needs “someone I can depend on” for the chef role on BDSY

Chef Cloyce was already a culinary reality TV star before he was on BDSY. He competed on Man vs. Child: Chef Showdown and was featured on the Rachael Ray Show. Even with all that experience, Cloyce has not put his best foot forward for the guests or the crew.

He’s had multiple communication issues with Chief Stew, Daisy Kelliher. Cook-wise, he bought a store-bought cake and microwaved it for guests. Are we sure he wasn’t on Worst Cooks in America as well? Daisy warned Glenn, “I really want him to succeed. But I feel like there’s a little bit of, like, the bare minimum.”

And Captain Glenn has taken notice. When Cloyce went on a beach excursion in Episode 3 instead of cooking, Glenn’s radar went up. He said, “He’s gotta understand he’s here for a purpose. He’s not a guest. I like strong people around me that I can trust. And right now, I’m starting to worry. What’s he thinking?”

In Episode 13, Glenn has had enough. He noted, “Cloyce is being consistent in his inconsistencies. And at this point in the season, I need someone I can depend on.” During this episode, he chopped fresh fruit next to garlic and onions, and he botched the timing during dinner.

As the clock ticked between courses, Glenn was getting frustrated. He said, “Guys, we gotta go.” To be fair, the battery had died in the smoker. But this wasn’t Cloyce’s first go-round with a slow dinner service.

If Glenn feels he cannot depend on Cloyce, it might be time for Cloyce to move on to his next reality TV show.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.
