Coleen Rooney has laid bare the vile abuse her son gets because of his dad, Wayne.
The businesswoman who only recently appeared on ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! has spoken about life behind closed doors in a candid chat – her first since returning from Australia. But while her young sons, Kai, 14, Klay, 11, Kit, Eight and Cass, six, have the world at their feet, she admits that having a famous footballer as a dad can come with its consequences.
Kai, who has previously been dubbed "something special" for his skills on the pitch is no stranger to competitiveness and is signed to Manchester United's Under 16 academy. His dad, Wayne, 39, played for United between 2004 and 2017 in a move that shocked everybody when he left Everton.
Although Wayne was abused when Coleen was in the jungle, she has now revealed that Kai is often trolled on the pitch. "A few years ago, I remember my son Kai took a penalty at St George’s Park, where we were for a tournament," she said. The 38-year-old went on to add: "It went to penalties, Kai stepped up and just skied it. Afterwards I asked him how he could take a penalty like that, and he told me he was just fuming as the goalkeeper was saying 'Your dad's sh*t', and he got dead angry."

He’s strong-minded though and usually shrugs it off." Kai appears to have picked up Wayne's skills and despite not yet reaching his remarkable figures, he's already bagged a whopping 56 goals in his first full season for the Red Devils.
A clip shared of Kai on social media saw fans flock to share their amazement after he was put through his paces in a one-on-one coaching session. "You can tell he has something special we need to keep him and develop him right," said one. A second commented: "Promote him to the first team already." "I'd say he'll be in the senior squad within 2 to 3 years... hopefully sooner to partner up with Hojlund," wrote a third.
Elsewhere, Coleen revealed how Wayne there for her when she faced the Wagatha Christie trial. Coleen earned the nickname through her detective work which exposed rival WAG Rebekah Vardy as the source of leaked stories to a newspaper about the Rooneys. Vardy sued Coleen for libel but lost the court case.
Looking back on the strain it put on them and their relationship, Coleen said: “It was the lowest I’d say I’ve ever been – I had no control over it and that was hard. I knew what I was saying was right, but the fact that someone else took me to court and I had to prove it and say it was what it was was tough. It was a long period of time and I couldn’t get away from it.
"Every day, I’d wake up and think ‘Coleen, just get on with your day’ – but it kept creeping back in all the time. I felt like I wasn’t myself, I was snappy, and every Friday the lawyers rang me – the other team try and ruin your weekend by calling at the last point on Friday."
