The Kansas City Chiefs secured their eighth win of the season on Monday, taking down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to remain undefeated. Despite the exciting win, quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered what initially appeared to be a significant ankle injury in the fourth quarter.

Mahomes threw a shovel pass but ended up stepping awkwardly. The non-contact injury looked scary, as the star quarterback fell to the ground grasping his left ankle. He also had to be helped off the turf and taken to the sideline.
Initially, everyone assumed that Mahomes suffered a game-ending injury. However, he received care from the training staff and came back out on the field in the Chiefs' next offensive series.
Despite playing through the pain, Mahomes has now offered more details about the injury, and if it will keep him out of Week 10.
Mahomes revealed to reporters on Wednesday that his ankle is feeling "good" and he will see how "far he can push it" in practice this week.
While "pushing it" does not seem like the right move to treat a hurt ankle, Mahomes is simply stating that he plans to see how well his ankle will hold. From the sounds of his confidence in the presser and his being able to return to the game on Monday, Mahomes is likely completely fine.
Completely fine is a loose term, as he does still have an ankle injury. However, that injury might just be something minor that he has to deal with. The worst-case scenario would have been that he left the game in Week 9 and would also miss Week 10.
The Chiefs will not have to live that reality, and they are seeking their ninth win of the season on Sunday when they take on the Denver Broncos.
Despite needing more wide receiver help, the Chiefs decided to stand pat during the NFL trade deadline. That could be because of the performance that DeAndre Hopkins gave against the Bucs. He secured 86 yards and two touchdowns on eight receptions.
The Chiefs are also expecting to get running back Isiah Pacheco back at some point, along with wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster. Smith-Schuster has been knocked out of action with a hamstring injury.
With presumed offensive help on the way, the Chiefs did not make a move to improve the roster on Tuesday when the NFL trade deadline passed. It was likely a smarter move to keep their current players and draft capital to potentially win their third Super Bowl in a row.
They are still undefeated and Mahomes is not going to miss any time due to his ankle. So, all Chiefs fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
