Chris Tarrant has retired from showbiz.
The legend is calling time on his career after more than five decades in the spotlight that saw him host the breakfast show on Capital FM, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Tiswas. He said: “I’ve stopped. After lockdown, you just start to get everything in a bit perspective.
“I thought, ‘I’ve done this thing for 50 years’. I don’t need the money, so I was thinking, ‘Why am I still doing this?’” Chris gets plenty of big-money offers to return to TV and radio, but turns them all down.

He added: “I get asked to do things. There is all sorts of rubbish. The Masked Singer. No thank you! I don’t miss doing TV. It's nicer when you're not being told where to go what to do and you know schedules.”
Retiring means Chris can spend more time doing the things he loves. The star admitted he wants to travel the world with his family.
He said: “I’ve done lots of things that I’ve been putting off. Last year I went on safari with my two eldest grandkids. My partner Jane and I have just come back from Borneo, which I’ve always wanted to do. And I was photographing bears in Alaska. So, why the hell would I go for work for?"
“I’ve had a brilliant life and now I just want to be around doing lots of things that I wanted. Hopefully, for a lot longer.”
The English broadcaster is also a former stand up comedian. Tarrant's career began back in 1972 and away from the cameras, he was also a member of the Four Bucketeers.
Their single Bucket of Water Song reached number 26 in the UK Singles Chart back in 1980. Some may also know him from his radio DJ days and perhaps his best known role hosting Capital Breakfast.
