When A-list celebrities get divorced they often turn to the divorce lawyer who is known for getting the job done: Laura Wasser. That’s reportedly what Christina Haack is looking for when it comes to ending her marriage to Josh Hall — she’s ready to move forward and hopes Wasser can help her resolve their financial issues.
A source told Us Weekly that the 41-year-old HGTV star “was not happy with the progress or lack thereof” from her former legal team, Dearmey Law APC. Instead, Haack made a power play against her ex by hiring Wasser because she wanted “to go with the best divorce attorney out there to try and wrap this up quickly and fairly.”

Wasser, who has represented Kim Kardashian, Kevin Costner, and Angelina Jolie during their high-profile divorces, says stars are looking for less contentious breakups these days, thanks to Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s “conscious uncoupling” in 2016. She explained to SheKnows in February how the press has helped spread this Hollywood trend by showing fans snapshots of “Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin going on vacation together or attending their kids’ birthday parties together.”
She likes to call it “gracefully separating,” but the stigma of getting a divorce has also changed. “I’m coming up on 30 years doing this,” Wasser said. “It has changed… the way people approach divorce is a little bit less taboo. [There’s] a little bit less of, ‘Oh, I’ve had a failed marriage.’ It’s more about, ‘No, this is my next chapter and I’m moving on.’”
It looks like Haack is ready to put her marriage to Hall behind her, but there are some tricky financial issues because they did not have a prenuptial agreement. The former duo is fighting over their Newport Beach home, her Tennessee property, and the rights to the HGTV series they did together. In court documents obtained by Us Weekly in October, Haack’s former legal team claimed that Hall requested “$65,000 per month in spousal support from [Christina] on a 2-year, 9-month marriage” which they described as “outrageous.”
Wasser usually gets a great deal for her clients, so Hall’s legal team might be sweating a bit over negotiations. “I know I have a reputation for being a pit bull, but really, I’m results-oriented,” Wasser confidently explained to Dame Magazine in 2012, via People. “What you want in a lawyer is someone who really tries to get it resolved out of court, but if it just can’t, then let’s go. Let’s go, and let’s crush.”
Haack hopes that Wasser delivers that same energy when she’s in the room for her divorce negotiations against Hall’s legal team.
