Christine McGuinness makes heartbreaking friendship admission after split from husband Paddy

1 day ago 5

Christine McGuinness has shared a poignant insight following her split from former husband Paddy, recounting a heartrending realisation. The couple went their separate ways in 2022 after 11 years of marriage which began with lavish nuptials in Cheshire.

Despite the separation, Christine and Paddy have both remained living in their family home to ensure constancy for their three children—twins Penelope and Leo, aged 11, and eight year old Felicity—all of whom are on the autism spectrum.

Christine herself was diagnosed with autism during the making of the documentary 'Our Family and Autism' in 2021, which shed light on the realities faced by families of autistic children. Throughout her marriage with the 'Take Me Out' presenter, Christine reveals in her book 'A Beautiful Nightmare' that she lived almost reclusively, even foregoing a hen party because she "didn't have any friends".

Christine explained that they try to keep it quiet on the big day

Upon parting ways with Paddy, she confided to The Times that life had always included him, but she has since uncovered how that existence might have precluded her from various experiences. She expressed to the outlet: "Those years that I missed out on friendships, I thought I was fine. I didn't realise how sad and lonely I was. It's only recently, as I've been doing more, I'm like, 'Wow, there's a whole life to live out there that I didn't know existed' because I very much stayed at home."

Christine has confessed that she finds the uncertainty "really scary". She even admits to finding it "scary not knowing what life's going to bring," something she says is typical for autistic women, reports the Liverpool Echo.
