While this got a massive reaction from the crowd, a very vocal group online is upset with the win, at least partially because a ton of people wanted CM Punk to win.
In the days since it happened, wrestling fans seem split in half as to whether this was the right decision or not. Now, CM Punk himself has given his opinion.
During an interview on the GoodyGuy / Bad Guy podcast, CM Punk weighed in on the Royal Rumble and its surprising conclusion.
"I think Jey winning is fantastic," CM Punk said. "But when you have somebody in there like John Cena that everyone is going to immediately assume, 'Oh, LOL, Cena is going to win.'"

"When there are 30 people in the Rumble, male or female, that is 30 fanbases, at least 29 fanbases, that are going to converge and absolutely hate whoever wins the Rumble," Punk continued. "It doesn't matter who won it."
