Coronation Street: Daniel Brocklebank hopes Billy will find love
A Coronation Street favourite has confirmed that he will soon be back on the Cobbles. Daniel Brocklebank, best known for playing Billy Mayhew on the ITV soap, announced that he will be returning after a lengthy break.
Dressed in his character's priest get-up, the 45-year-old actor shared how he was feeling about making a comeback as he posted to his Instagram Stories. Captioning the selfie, Daniel wrote: "Back in the dog collar for the 1st time this year!!"
He continued: "It's so lovely to be back!!" It comes as the former Emmerdale star announced that he would be "stepping away from the Cobbles" in a December update.
He announced on X: “I’m hugely excited to announce that I’ll be stepping away from the cobbles of @itvcorrie (only for a few days) to debut the role of Antonio in @figaromusical, a brand new musical at the iconic venue the @LondonPalladium on the 3rd and 4th of Feb 2025. Tickets are on sale now.”
In the same month, Daniel also marked a decade on the soap, after playing the role of Billy since 2014.

"It’s a truly wonderful place to work and a beautiful family to be part of. I adore it.
"I can’t thank all the people involved in the show enough for giving me some of the happiest years of my professional life. Here’s to 10 more!"

Recently, the character of Billy was involved in a tragic storyline when his husband Paul Foreman was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, sadly passing away without his husband there to say goodbye.
Daniel's return to the Cobbles comes as other cast members have been saying their goodbyes. The departures of key cast members, notably icons like Helen Worth's Gail Platt and Sue Cleaver's Eileen Grimshaw, have incited worries about the soap's direction.
Despite a spate of departures from the show, Coronation Street is brimming with excitement as producer Kate Brooks told The Mirror that there are monumental scenes in store for 2025 and beyond.
