Dame Dash claimed that Drake once placed a $6 million bid on his share of Roc-A-Fella Records before eventually backing out of the auction.
In February, Judge Robert W. Lehrburger ordered Dash to sell off his one-third ownership of Roc-A-Fella and pay a judgment to movie producer Josh Webber after Webber sued him for defamation and copyright infringement and won the case in 2022.
Last week, New York State purchased Dame Dash’s share for $1 million. The deal also comes with rights to JAY-Z’s Reasonable Doubt album. He said other bids made came only as high as $250,000.
“What this really taught me was, that in the world, [JAY-Z] isn’t as big as he’s portrayed,” Dame Dash said on his America Nu Network. “I thought that more people would be interested in buying it because of the art value of it. And that’s the only thing I was selling.”
Dame previously revealed that Drake had attempted to buy his shares but did not reveal the bid amount at the time.
