Former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has weighed in on Donald Trump's recent comments concerning Vice President Kamala Harris. Known for her strong racing career, Patrick has begun to establish a foothold in politics, sharing her views with her growing audience.
At a campaign event in Miami, Donald Trump aired his criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris. The former president commented on Harris taking a break this close to the election. His scathing comments included:
"She's off. No, I can't get over it. Who the [expletive] takes off? You have 14 days left, and she'll take a couple of more days off, too," Trump said. "You know why? She's lazy as [expletive], and she's got that reputation, and she's a radical left lunatic, she's further left than Bernie Sanders or Pocahontas."
In response, Patrick shared Trump's comments on her Instagram Story, writing:
"God I love when people just say what's on their mind."
This is not the first time Patrick has backed the idea of someone speaking their mind. She recently also threw support behind the controversial Andrew Tate. She posted, as previously reported by Newsweek Sports:
"Andrew Tate is a very divisive personality... and I tend to really like people like this. I think it's because I love people who say what they want, regardless of the outcome. And I think he's right a lot."
Patrick's political engagement has been relatively recent, beginning in earnest at the start of 2024 when she started consuming news regularly. A key event that solidified her interest was her attendance at America Fest in Phoenix last December, where she listened to prominent conservative speakers like Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump Jr. Patrick describes her political stance as slightly right of center, merging Republican and Independent ideologies with a strong emphasis on leadership integrity and free speech.
Despite her newfound political engagement, Patrick's voting history is almost nill; she had never voted in a presidential election prior to 2024. The former driver recently admitted, as previously reported by Newsweek Sports:
"I just want to say I've never voted before, but this time around, I have to vote. It's that important.
"The person that runs this country should ultimately be running it very much like a business. I can't really think of a better businessman than Donald Trump," Patrick said.
"A guy like that who has been in business as long as he has, he's gonna go into that room and he's gonna get stuff done. That's what we need, a president who is actually going to make changes happen."
She has now confirmed that she has voted for Donald Trump.
