Daniel Craig is being eyed to star in the DC Studios feature Sgt. Rock for director Luca Guadagnino.
The movie adaptation of the DC Comics character is in early stages, with no deal yet in place for Craig. The project has a script from screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes, who penned Challengers and Queer, with the latter being an A24 title hitting theaters Nov. 27 that counts Guadagnino as director and Craig as star.
Plot details for the film have not been shared. Created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert, Sgt. Rock is a World War II soldier who first appeared in comics form in 1959.
Guadagnino has a busy upcoming slate, having recently wrapped filming on Amazon MGM Studios’ After the Hunt, a thriller starring Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri. Also in the works is his updated take on author Bret Easton Ellis’ novel American Psycho for Lionsgate.
Craig is represented by CAA, Independent Talent Group and Glaser Weil. Guadagnino is repped by CAA, Range Media Partners and Goodman Genow.
DC Studios declined to comment.
Deadline was first to report Guadagnino and Craig’s involvement in Sgt. Rock.
More to come.
