Victoria Beckham is finally ready to mend her relationship and forgive the Sussexes – but she’s being blocked from doing so by her protective husband, David Beckham, and her kids!
“Victoria has actually been much more forgiving than people realize, she was really hurt by the accusations that she was spreading gossip since that’s the last thing she would ever do,” a source exclusively tells In Touch. “But with time she’s mellowed about the whole, especially since Meghan has been reaching out to mend things.”
The rumored feud between the Beckhams and the Sussexes dates back to 2018 when Meghan Markle allegedly accused the former Spice Girl, 50, of leaking sensitive information to news outlets. David, 49, who was once friends with Prince Harry and even attended his 2018 wedding, is reportedly no longer on speaking terms with the royal.
The source says that Meghan, 43, “genuinely wants to heal any lingering issues,” adding that Victoria was not “opposed to it.”
“The problem is David and her boys are still holding a major grudge. They’re super protective of her and don’t feel like she should give Meghan or Harry another chance,” the insider explains. “They’re just so offended and angry on her behalf and think she’d being way too nice about it all. As far as they’re concerned there is no going back.”
According to the insider, David is a “royalist” and won’t be “disloyal” to friends Prince William and Kate Middleton by “welcoming Harry and Meghan back.” Their son Brooklyn Beckham seemingly echoed his father’s sentiments as he seemingly snubbed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in May 2024 during an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live.
Host Andy Cohen asked which members of the royal family he was close to, emphasizing that his family was known to be close friends with Harry, 40, and Meghan. Brooklyn, 25, seemingly ignored the mention of the Sussexes and responded, “Uhh, probably William. He’s just, like, the sweetest guy ever. He really is.”
Prince Harry and Meghan famously chose to step back as senior royals in 2020, amid increasing scrutiny and attacks on Meghan in the U.K. press, as well as escalating tensions within the royal family. The pair moved to the United States to protect themselves and their young family.
The father of two has been open about his strained relationship with William, and he detailed several of their conflicts in his 2023 memoir, Spare. In the pages, Harry detailed a fractured family relationship and recalled getting into a physical altercation with his older brother over Meghan.
“[David] loves hanging out with William and has sided with him and Kate completely,” the source adds. “If William and Harry mend fences then David would be more open to it but as of now he’s dead set against it which does put Victoria in an awkward position because she’s not going to go against her husband’s wishes, even if she is ready to let bygones be bygones, David is clearly not and she has to respect that.”
