Sean "Diddy" Combs is facing a slew of lawsuits and charges under a federal indictment that have turned his life upside down and seen his hip-hop empire crumble over the course of 2024.
Combs' court date is still months away, but he has been refused bail multiple times and is being housed currently inside the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. Yet even in jail, drama continues to follow Diddy.
Diddy's jail under investigation as mogul's lawsuits mount
The Associated Press on Monday reported that the Metropolitan Detention Center has just become the subject of its own federal investigation. Bureau of Prisons investigators visited the jail on Monday as part of an "interagency operation" that will look into complaints about attacks inside MDC Brooklyn and allegations centered on poor living conditions for inmates.
A series of attacks inside the jail led to federal authorities slapping charges on nine inmates, and the violence only makes up a portion of what the incarcerated population has to contend with on a daily basis. AP reported that staff shortages, drug smuggling, and constant lockdowns have created a particularly-unsafe atmosphere that has stopped inmates from exercising and even showering.
Combs is now part of this population -- at least until his court date on May 5, 2025. The 54-year-old founder of Bad Boy Records is facing numerous sexual assault lawsuits in addition to federal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. Diddy was reportedly placed on suicide watch shortly after he was placed at MDC Brooklyn, but his attorney maintains that he is "strong, healthy, confident and focused on his defense."
