Over the years, some former Disney Channel stars have experienced ups and downs in their lives, including run-ins with the law.
David Henrie, for example, was arrested in September 2018 for carrying a loaded gun into the LAX airport.
“I take responsibility for the situation at LAX today,” the Wizards of Waverly Place star shared via Twitter at the time. “I unintentionally brought my legally owned gun which is registered in my name to the airport. I am so sorry for any trouble it caused, but I am appreciative of TSA’s efforts in implementing the safety laws that are in place to protect our beautiful country.”
He was later sentenced to two years probation following the incident, and has since avoided any further legal issues.
Fellow Wizards of Waverly Place star Jake T. Austin also had a run-in with the law. He was arrested for a DUI at age 18 in November 2013. Initially, he was charged with two counts of DUI, but they were ultimately dismissed for a speeding charge to which the actor pleaded no contest. He was sentenced to 24 months probation.
Following her stint as Bailey Pickett on The Suite Life on Deck and Jessie Prescott on Jessie, Debby Ryan was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in April 2016. It was later reported that she was sentenced to three years probation.
“Over the last few days I have had the chance to think about my actions, and I wish I had used better judgement,” the actress wrote on Twitter at the time. “I recognize that I am a role model and have always worked hard to set a good example for my millions of fans. I am so sorry to disappoint everyone.”
That’s So Raven alum Orlando Brown has also experienced multiple run-ins with the law following his Disney Channel days. The former actor has been open about his mental health and addiction struggles over the years — which he has since overcome. In 2011, he was also arrested for a DUI but failed to complete court-ordered requirements, which resulted in jail time. In 2016, he was arrested and subsequently charged with domestic battery, obstruction of justice, drug possession with intent to sell and having contraband in jail. The Proud Family star was also arrested three more times throughout 2018.
