Dodgers Could Trade $27 Million, Two-Time World Series Winner To NL Rival

The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the most talented teams in the league, with many dubbing them as the single most talented team in all of baseball.

After winning the 2024 World Series, the Dodgers have done the opposite of getting complacent. Instead, they've brought in a lot of talent, including the recent signing of infielder Hye-Seong Kim from South Korea.

Kim is a very versatile infielder who possesses one of the best infield gloves in all of baseball. But with the signing of the Korean infielder, one Dodgers player may be out of a job.

Gavin Lux has won two World Series championships with the Dodgers. He's projected to sign for $27 million when he hits free agency after the 2026 season, per Spotrac. And the Dodgers may look to trade him after acquiring Kim.

The Atlanta Braves may be the top trade target for a player like Lux. First of all, the Braves need to add a shortstop better than Orlando Arcia and Lux would give them that. Arcia struggled tremendously in 2024, as did Atlanta down the stretch.

Adding somebody with Lux's experience at the age of 27 is rare, but he doesn't have a clear role in the Dodgers' offense.

Atlanta has a lot of top pitching prospects it could trade to Los Angeles for Lux. While players like AJ Smith-Shawver, Cam Caminiti, and Spencer Schwellenbach would likely be untouchable in a deal like this, the Braves could trade a starter like Cade Kuehler or Hurston Waldrep to the Dodgers for Lux.
