The Los Angeles Dodgers roster is nearing completion for the 2025 season, but center field could use an upgrade.
Tommy Edman is currently projected to be the starting center fielder and while he gets the job done, Baseball Savant shows his offense and defense to be below average. Edman is more suited to be a utility player than an everyday starter.
There aren't many strong options available in free agency for center field, but the Dodgers have options on the trade market. Acquiring Luis Robert Jr. would bring them one step closer to repeating as World Series champions.
Robert Jr. hit just .224 last season with 14 home runs and 35 RBI. However, it's tough to judge him based on 2024 when the Chicago White Sox were horrific, and he had no protection in the lineup.
He is a .267 hitter in his career and has won both the Silver Slugger award and the Golden Glove. Robert Jr. would be a considerable upgrade in center field over Edman.

- Los Angeles Dodgers Acquire: OF Luis Robert Jr.
- Chicago White Sox Acquire: LHP Justin Wrobleski (Dodgers No. 6 prospect), C Diego Cartaya (Dodgers No. 16 prospect)
Robert Jr. isn't set to hit free agency until 2028, but he could become a free agent as early as 2026. He has club options in 2026 and 2027 worth $20 million each.
Wrobleski struggled in his eight major league appearances, but he is blocked right now by the Dodgers rotation. Cartaya is also blocked by Will Smith and Austin Barnes. Both players would get great opportunities to consistently play in the big leagues with the White Sox while the Dodgers would receive a high-level center fielder.
