Dodgers Predicted To Steal Padres $54 Million Star Pitcher In Free Agency

The Los Angeles Dodgers have executed a nearly perfect offseason this winter. They've signed Blake Snell, extended Tommy Edman, and recently re-signed Teoscar Hernández.

But the Dodgers aren't done there. They could continue to upgrade their roster, notably the bullpen, before the 2025 season arrives.

FanSided's Chris Landers recently predicted the Dodgers would pursue San Diego Padres pitcher Tanner Scott in free agency. Scott is projected to sign for around $50 million and would be a huge addition to Los Angeles' bullpen.

"The Dodgers need one more impact arm in the bullpen given the injury concerns surrounding guys like Blake Treinen and Michael Kopech, and they don't have a superlative lefty option for Dave Roberts to call on in the highest-leverage spots," Landers wrote. "Scott would check both those boxes, one of the game's foremost whiff artists who sits in the high 90s with a wipeout slider from the left side.

"His command will always be a bit of an issue, but he's gotten it under control enough over the past couple of seasons to emerge as one of the very best relievers in baseball, and it comes with the added benefit of poaching a player from L.A.'s most dangerous division rival."

Scott would be a perfect addition to the Dodgers. He would give them a high-leverage lefty who can close down games while also working the seventh or eighth inning as a lefty matchup nightmare. Plus, the Dodgers would be stealing him from a division rival, which is always a good idea.
