Does Jennifer Lopez Get to Keep Her $5 Million Engagement Ring From Ben Affleck? Details Post Divorce

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce on Monday, January 6, four months after the Wedding Planner star filed for dissolution of marriage. But does J. Lo get to keep her $5 million green diamond engagement ring that the Good Will Hunting star proposed with?

The “Jenny From the Block” singer will get to hold on to her precious stone, the Daily Mail reported one day after the former couple’s divorce settlement. Earlier that day, In Touch confirmed that J. Lo, 55, was awarded her clothing, jewelry and other personal effects in the split.

The iconic sparkler was personalized by Ben, 52, prior to his proposal.

“One of the songs I wrote for [This Is Me…Now] is on the inside of this ring right here, my engagement ring, that he gave me says, ‘Not. Going. Anywhere.’ Jen told Apple Music One’s Zane Lowe in November 2022. “My first diamond ring he gave me, the pink diamond ring, it said, ‘Sing.’”

She went on to explain the significance behind the saying, adding, “This one he put, ‘Not. Going. Anywhere.’ because that’s how he would sign his emails when we started talking again. Like, ‘Don’t worry, don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere.’”

The Gigli costars were first romantically involved after meeting on the set of their 2003 film. Their relationship moved quickly with the Argo actor popping the question in November 2002. The pair never made it down the aisle, however, as they first postponed their elaborate September 2003 ceremony before calling off their engagement the following January.

Bennifer rekindled their romance in 2021 following her split from ex-fiancé Alex Rodriguez. One year later, in April 2022, Ben proposed again.

“Did you ever imagine your biggest dream could come true? Saturday night while at my favorite place on earth (in the bubble bath), my beautiful love got on one knee and proposed,” Jen announced via her newsletter at the time. “I was taken totally off guard and just looked in his eyes smiling and crying at the same time trying hard to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again, I was quite literally speechless and he said, ‘Is that a yes?’ I said YES of course that’s a YES.”

She continued, “It was nothing fancy at all, but it was the most romantic thing I could’ve ever imagined.”

“Green has always been my lucky color and now, for sure, it always will be,” she added, in reference to the ring.

Exactly two years after their Georgia nuptials, Jennifer filed for divorce on August 20, 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. While each of the stars was allowed to keep their earnings from projects performed during their marriage, a source previously told In Touch that the Maid in Manhattan star had “no intention” of giving up her diamond ring.

“This isn’t the first time Jen has kept the bling,” the source shares. “Back in 2003, after their first engagement went up in flames, Jennifer held on to a 6.1-carat pink diamond ring worth a cool $3.52 million,” the source said one day after her divorce filing. “It was a gift. Just because the relationship didn’t work out doesn’t mean she has to give it back. Jennifer has zero guilt about keeping it, and clearly Ben doesn’t mind — he’s done this twice already! It’s not like he didn’t know what he was getting into!”
