President-elect Donald Trump unveiled a collection of guitars that he has endorsed, including "signature edition" guitars signed by Trump, which are selling for $10,000 apiece.
Even before he entered politics, Trump had used his celebrity status as a New York real estate businessman to sell merchandise from vodka to steaks. He's continued to promote branded products like Bibles, sneakers, watches, photo books and NFTs (nonfungible tokens)—and that's just during his latest election campaign.
Donald Trump Sells Guitars
On Wednesday, Trump announced the new collection of guitars on Truth Social, posting a picture of himself holding what he called the "Limited Edition '45' Guitar." It is an electric guitar with the words "Make America Great Again" on the neck and a photo of a bald eagle in front of an American flag on the body. The guitar Trump was holding also included his signature.
Trump shared a link to a website called GetTrumpGuitars.com. When you click the link it brings you to a webpage titled "Trump Guitars" which lists the guitar Trump was holding for $10,000. It was available in both electric and acoustic styles.
According to the webpage, there are only 275 guitars in each style available, and only 125 of each style are currently available for shipping. The webpage also says all in-stock guitars will arrive in time for Christmas.
Shoppers can also get an unsigned version of the electric guitar for $1,500 and an unsigned version of the acoustic guitar for $1,250. There are only 1,000 guitars of each style available and they will also come by Christmas, according to the webpage.
"Trump Guitars" is also selling a "presidential series" of electric guitars that can be pre-ordered. They are expected to be delivered five to six months from now.
The "presidential series" consists of three electric guitars—in black, gold and red—that have "Donald J. Trump" on the neck.
Will Trump Be Paid for These Guitar Sales?
The financial relationship between Trump and the proceeds from the guitar sales is unclear.
As of Wednesday, GetTrumpGuitars.com does not include the name of the company selling the guitars. It also doesn't include any disclaimers or licensing language on some of Trump's other product sites.
The Associated Press requested comment from 16 Creative, a branding agency listed at the bottom of the guitar website, and Trump's transition team.
Trump's Other Business Ventures
In March, Trump endorsed a "God Bless the USA Bible" for $59.99.
"All Americans need a Bible in their home, and I have many. It's my favorite book," Trump said in a video posted on Truth Social at the time. "I'm proud to endorse and encourage you to get this Bible. We must make America pray again."
It came as Trump faced mounting legal bills from criminal and civil proceedings against him. Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges against him and claimed they were politically motivated.
He also revealed Trump-branded sneakers at "Sneaker Con" in Philadelphia in February, which included the golden "Never Surrender High-Tops" for $399.
One pair of the golden shoes sold on the online auction site eBay for over $450,000.
