Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg are happier than ever after ten years of marriage, as a source exclusively tells In Touch their communication skills and white hot love life are the key reasons they’re defying the Hollywood odds to stay rock solid.
“Jenny and Donnie are proof that things only get better with time, they’ve been together for nearly a decade, but they’re still just as hot for each other as they were in the beginning,” the source says. “They’re constantly finding ways to keep the spark alive.”
The two met 12 years ago during a chance encounter on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live in 2012. Sparks immediately flew between the New Kids on the Block alum, 55, and the scream queen, 52, while on set – so much so that host Andy even encouraged Donnie to ask Jenny out right there and then.
While the Blue Bloods actor didn’t take up the challenge in the moment, he more than happily joined his future flame as a guest on her talk show, The Jenny McCarthy Show, in March 2013. The segment got pretty steamy, with the host asking Donnie if he “talks dirty” in bed and ended with him chewing on her ear.
“It gets steamy. I mean, like, really steamy. Being turned on by a guy is always fun, but [having it] legitimately happen to you on T.V. is to be turned back into a 12-year-old. By the time we get into the groundbreaking interview, my face turns fifty shades of RED,” she wrote in her blog ahead of the episode airing. Donnie asked her out shortly after his interview, with the two tying the knot in August 2014.
According to the source, the simmering heat between the two lovers has yet to subside, even more than a decade later.
“Jenny’s always gushing to friends about how Donnie still gives her butterflies. Even after all these years they still really prioritize intimacy,” the insider says. “Jenny has said that no matter how busy they get, they make it a point to have alone time, no phones, no distractions, just each other.”
As In Touch previously reported, Jenny has been angling to take over the late Dr. Ruth’s sex-focused talk show, employing her own hosting skills she’s honed over the years and her personal experience married to Donnie.
Giving dating, marriage and relationship advice wouldn’t be too out of the question for the Santa Baby actress, considering how she’s been able to keep the flame going with her husband of 10 years.
The source even says their bond is strong, but not without effort: “Date nights are still a big priority, sometimes it’s a night out but a lot of the time it’s a cozy setup at home with candles, music, and no interruptions. Donnie’s the kind of guy who’ll show up with flowers just because, and Jenny absolutely loves that.”
“People around them always say it’s like they’re newlyweds, and it’s true, they really seem to have marriage figured out.”
