In an interview with People, Osmond shared how the King of Rock and Roll left a profound impact on him as a teenager. The two stars have a history of encounters with each other before Presley’s death in 1977.

Presley’s Timeless Advice

While reflecting on his evolving relationship with fans, Osmond recounted a pivotal moment from his youth. “I was 14 at the time when [Elvis] said, ‘If I could do it all over again, I’d get closer to my fans,’” Osmond shared. “That really, really influenced me that a guy this big, you know, the King of Rock and Roll, wishes he could get closer to his fans because he was so isolated.”

This statement from Presley encouraged Osmond to prioritize genuine connections with his supporters throughout his career. In the age of social media, the artist fully embraces platforms like YouTube and Instagram, engaging directly with fans from all walks of life. “Can you imagine what I could have done with social media in the ‘Puppy Love’ days?” he mused, acknowledging the power of these tools to expand his audience.

Osmond has utilized Presley’s advice on connecting with fans via social media by appearing on the popular podcast, “Just Trish“, hosted by influencer mogul Trisha Paytas. Paytas is known for being a Osmond superfan.

“Elvis was the nicest guy,” Osmond previously stated, emphasizing the importance of staying grounded and authentic—qualities he strives to embody both on and off the stage.

Osmond’s Evolution

Over the years, Osmond has seen his fanbase evolve, with younger generations discovering his talents through platforms like YouTube and iconic roles such as Captain Shang in Disney’s “Mulan“. “I see little kids with their moms and people in their 30s and 20s saying, ‘I’ve been watching this all my life,’” he said. This broad appeal is a testament to his versatility and enduring charm.

Osmond’s latest project—playing Pharaoh in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at the Edinburgh Playhouse—marked a nostalgic return to a show he first captivated audiences with over 30 years ago. “Opening night it was like, ‘What is this going to be like?’” he recalled. “And as soon as they set me down on the chair on stage and the lights came up, the applause and ovation … it was absolutely amazing.”

Osmond’s upcoming solo residency at Harrah’s Showroom in Las Vegas promises to be a groundbreaking spectacle. “I’ve always said if I can’t give a hundred percent on stage, that’s the time to stop,” he noted. For now, though, retirement is far from his mind. “I’m just having the time of my life on stage.”
