It's been a mixed third quarter for Electronic Arts (EA) in the ongoing fiscal year ending on March 31, 2025, with EA Sports FC 25 and Dragon Age: The Veilguard performing below expectations. However, the company is already looking towards a brighter future with a new Battlefield planned to be released before April 2026 and the Nintendo Switch 2 providing ample opportunities for the publisher.

CEO Andrew Wilson said during the company's latest earnings call that "any time a new console comes into the marketplace, that's a benefit to us. It gives us the ability to access and acquire new players."

Wilson named The Sims and the MySims: Cozy Bundle as examples for successful EA titles on Nintendo Switch, "which performed well ahead of our expectations." Crucially, around half of the players purchasing these titles on Switch were new customers for EA, underlining the untapped potential of Nintendo's ecosystem.

"That represents a great opportunity for us," Wilson summarized.

Aside from The Sims, Wilson sees great potential for EA FC and Madden NFL on Switch 2. "Our expectation is that products like FC, Madden, and others might find real energy on the platform," he stated.

The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially revealed earlier this year following months of rumors about the upcoming console. More information about the Switch successor is set to be released during a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation in April 2025.

EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, and other EA games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 is not a surprise by any means, as the publisher has always aimed to be on new platforms quickly, but it's nice to get a confirmation for fans who might be thinking about purchasing the console specifically to play EA's sports titles.
