EAMONN Holmes has made social media contact with his ex-wife Ruth Langsford for the first time since their marriage split after 14 years.
Loose Women host Ruth, 64, shared pictures of her beloved mum Joan in hospital after a recent fall - holding her hand in bed.
Ruth shared an update on her 93-year-old mother writing: “Hospital visit… thank you all so much for your lovely messages and well wishes for my darling Mum.
"She’ll be in hospital for a bit longer yet, but she’s in pretty good spirits considering and I hope she’ll be home for Christmas.”
The poignant picture was commented on by hoards of celebrity friends and fans - but was also 'liked' by ex-husband Eamonn.
The star's mother Joan was rushed to hospital after suffering a nasty injury following a fall this week.

Ruth posted at the time: "No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas... she’s had a fall and fractured her pelvis!
"She’s ok… ish, no surgery required thank goodness, but she needs rest and time to heal now. She’s in hospital at the moment but I’m hoping to get her home soon.
"This time last year she fell and broke her hip but recovered well…she’s a very strong woman so I’m sure she’ll recover from this too.
"Put’s life and what’s important into perspective, eh? Happy Christmas!"
Ruth's 28-year relationship and 14-year marriage to Eamonn fell apart in May when she found messages to another woman.
Holmes, 65, is now ensconced in a new relationship with psychotherapist Katie Alexander, 43.

In September, just four months after the end of their marriage was announced, Eamonn and Katie were seen on holiday in Ibiza.
And the 42-year-old was spotted with a sizeable rock on her ring finger during their recent trip to Paris, which has prompted engagement rumours.
Meanwhile, Ruth is preparing for her first Christmas as a single woman.
The TV star is said to have hired a £400-an-hour lawyer, Catherine Costley who was an apprentice of legal legend Fiona Shackleton, known as Steel Magnolia, who represented Prince Charles in his divorce from Princess Diana.
The couple shared a £3.5 million house in Weybridge in Surrey, where Ruth currently remains, while Eamonn has moved into another property nearby with Katie.
They share their grown up son, Jack, while Eamonn has three older children from his first marriage.
