EastEnders fans believe they've figured out the next romantic interest for Stacey Slater, following the shocking demise of Martin Fowler.
In last week's episode of the long-standing BBC One soap, viewers were left devastated when Martin (James Bye) was written out during the 40th anniversary live episode.
He found himself trapped in the Queen Vic with Stacey (Lacey Turner) after an explosion. The plot took a dramatic twist when Martin was crushed by a falling metal beam.
As he lay waiting for paramedics with Stacey by his side, he confessed his love to her. In heart-wrenching scenes, knowing he wouldn't survive, the ex-lovers reignited their romance and Martin proposed - to which Stacey agreed.
However, by the end of the episode, Martin tragically died, leaving Stacey sobbing and clutching his chest. Now, fans are already speculating that Stacey will start a new relationship with a returning Walford favourite.
Stacey has been a mainstay on the soap for years and has had numerous romances during her tenure. She famously wed Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements) in 2007 and had a memorable affair with his father Max Branning (Jake Wood), reports Plymouth Live.
Stacey was also married to Martin from 2016 to 2010 and they share a daughter, Lily (Lillia Turner). Stacey also had a steamy affair with Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami), and dated Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol).
In a dramatic twist for 2024, Stacey found herself entangled with another Branning, Jack (Scott Maslen), on the BBC soap. However, fans have pieced together their own theories about her love life.
"Bring Back Kheerat for Stacy!" one fan demanded on an EastEnders Facebook group. Another added: "Yes! ! ! ! Absolutely. Kheerat return."
A third fan expressed: "I would love to see him back. Stacey needs him."
Kheerat's last appearance was in 2022 when he was imprisoned for taking the fall for Ranveer Gulati's murder, a sacrifice to save his mother Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal).
