Eight Teams In On Projected $100 Million Slugging Orioles Outfielder

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander is going to be one of the most sought-after free agents this winter. He's coming off a year in which he slugged 44 home runs as a piece of the Orioles' dominant offensive core.

Santander is a switch-hitting slugger with power from both sides of the plate. There are a lot of teams, including the Orioles, looking to bring him in this winter.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post recently projected Santander to land a contract for five years, $100 million. Heyman also mentioned there should be no shortage of suitors for the outfielder.

"He has big power and is a great clubhouse guy. Eight teams are already in, including many that are shooting first for Soto. $100 (million), (five) years," Heyman wrote.

It's hard to identify which eight teams Heyman is speaking of, because there are likely to be many more suitors than just eight. The Orioles are in. The New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, and New York Yankees could all make sense depending on who lands Juan Soto.

But teams like the Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals, Detroit Tigers, and Chicago Cubs shouldn't be counted out either.

Once Soto signs, you should expect the Santander market to heat up quite a bit. With so many teams jockeying for star outfielders and only a handful of them on the market, $100 million could become the floor for Santander if he plays his cards right.
