Eminem's mother, Debbie Nelson has died at 69 years old after a battle with advanced lung cancer. She passed away last night in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Debbie's advanced lung cancer diagnosis was made public in September. Despite providing financial support to his mother, the 51 year old rapper has not been in contact with her or other family members in Missouri for several years.
Their tumultuous relationship frequently featured in Eminem's music, with songs like Cleaning Out My Closet accusing his mother of abuse and neglect, reports the Mirror US.
In 2005, Debbie received $25,000 after successfully suing the rapper for defamation over lyrics suggesting she was a drug user. In 2008, she published a revealing memoir titled My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem.

Debbie's death comes after the rapper made the announcement in his music video for Temporary that his daughter Hailie is expecting her first child. The song is a letter to his daughter in the event of his death. One moment of the video showed footage of him with Hailie on the front of some steps.
Hailie hands him a Detroit Lions blue jersey emblazoned with the words 'Grandpa 1' on the back along with an ultrasound. The emotional music video also features many home videos of his beloved 28-year-old daughter. He also included a clip of himself at her wedding hugging her new husband.
At the end of the clip, Eminem is seen sitting on the porch steps as a beaming Hailie walks out holding the jersey. She sits down next to him as he reads the jersey and takes a good look at the ultrasound. The shocked Just Lose It rapper holds it up and shows the camera as his jaw drops in surprise.
The video also included Hailie's wedding guests gathering around her as she enjoyed her first dance with her father. Fans rushed to the comment section to share their congratulations and comment on Eminem's emotional side.
It was last February that Hailie announced her engagement to beau Evan. The social media star shared the delightful news on Instagram, posting several snaps from her then-boyfriend's romantic proposal. "Casual weekend recap," she told her three million followers after sharing a carousel of snaps, one showing her fiancé down on one knee.
