Emmerdale is reportedly saying goodbye to another of its stars. Actress Paula Lane, who portrays Ella Forster, is said to have quietly left the ITV soap.
Lane, famed for her previous role as Kylie Platt in Coronation Street, joined Emmerdale at the end of 2023 with her first scenes airing in January 2024. Now, it has been revealed on a talent Spotlight page shared by Lane herself via her Instagram bio that she will stop filming with Emmerdale in February 2025.
During her brief time on Emmerdale, Lane's character has had a rollercoaster storyline, from her entrance as the fiery receptionist Ella Forster to becoming pals with Mandy Dingle (Lisa Reilly) and falling for Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).
Viewers were captivated as Ella's turbulent past was exposed, revealing she was responsible for a friend's death during her childhood.
Before joining the cast of Emmerdale, Lane had roles in BBC's Call The Midwife, ITV's medical drama The Royal and Heartbeat. The actress originates from Hebden Bridge and graduated from drama school in 2008 before landing her first TV role.
Previously, the star opened up about Ella's dark and tragic past. "Ella is so ashamed of her past," she confessed, reports Birmingham Live.
"Every time the truth has come out in the past, she has had to move on and start again, so it's incredibly painful to share and know that there is no going back now."
"It's a heaviness she carries all the time in the back of her mind. Pretending to carry on as normal is a short-term fix, and behind closed doors the guilt is very real."
Lane said: "Every birthday is a reminder of what happened and will never allow her to fully move on."
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
