A film director who 'stormed out' of the Golden Globes after losing out on an award has got fans all saying the same thing.

Luca Guadagnino, director of blockbuster hits including Call Me By Your Name, Suspiria, A Bigger Splash and the recently released Queer, was spotted leaving the awards ceremony prematurely. His film, Challengers – starring Zendaya, Josh O'Connor and Mike Faist – scooped up one award despite receiving four nominations.

Trent Reznor's original soundtrack picked up the film's only win of the night, while lead actress Zendaya was snubbed for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The film itself was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, an award ultimately won by musical thriller flick Emilia Pérez.

Guadagnino was seen leaving his table and bidding farewell to a few members of the Academy at the back of the room following the announcement. A clip of Guadagnino leaving the awards ceremony has since gone viral, and many fans praised him for "storming out". One user simply wrote: "Good for him lol."

Those who saw him leave the ceremony prematurely praised him for not sticking around to see the Best Picture awards speech. One wrote: "Such a diva, I adore him. (I'd have done the same.)" Another added: "Don’t blame him, Emilia Pérez is straight trash." A third wrote: "I don't blame him."

Emilia Pérez, meanwhile, received its own spate of nominations. Stars Selena Gomez and Karla Sofía Gascón-were both nominated for Best Actor, though neither won.

Fans were eager to let their opinions on the winning feature be known, with some saying Emilia Pérez does not compare to Challengers. One user wrote: "Oh Goddammit they gave Emilia Pérez a major award it's starting I'm already beginning to feel a deep, deep rage." A second added: "I’d be p***ed too if my acclaimed movie lost to easily the worst movie in the category."

Another fumed: "I'd be annoyed too if I made the greatest movie of the year with wonderful queer themes and I lost to the musical equivalent of The Danish Girl." A third wrote: "I’d walk out too if people didn’t understand that Challengers is a masterpiece." Some, however, have suggested there was a far more innocent reason for Guadagnino's early departure.

One joked: "He wanted to avoid the bottle neck, getting out of the parking lot." But some feel Challengers was rightly snubbed by the awards body, with one user suggesting it was not as good as people say it is. They wrote: "Let’s be honest, Challengers wasn’t that great."
