The Traitors' star Maia Gouveia reportedly used company cards after being sacked from her job.
Maia, 25, is currently competing in BBC gameshow The Traitors, together with sister Armani, 27, who was ousted from the castle during last week's episodes. She has also been celebrating her pregnancy after revealing that she was expecting in a roundup post for 2024 on her social media.
But in her previous job, Maia was reportedly given the boot by her employers after she allegedly went missing from her role in order to go on holiday. It's reported she also was seen using the company's credit card several times before being ordered to give the card back to the business.
According to the Daily Mail, Maia had been hired by gifting company Bubblegum Stuff as a social media manager in 2024. But, after just three months in the job, bosses decided to fire her after she mysteriously stopped showing up for work.
It was later discovered that Maia had gone on a luxury holiday to the Caribbean island of Trinidad in February of 2024 without telling bosses. It was this failure to notify staff of her absence that led to her being given her marching orders.
But six months on from her dismissal from the company - which is owned by Courtney Wood, who finished as the runner-up in The Apprentice in 2016 - Maia's woes with the company continued. The BBC star had allegedly used the business' credit card to pay for personal products, after having saved the details to her Apple Pay account.
After discovering the discrepancies, the card was immediately blocked from being used - and the incident was reported to the police. Maia reportedly defended herself against the claims she had been deliberately using the card without authorisation, claiming that the payments had been made accidentally.
A source close to Maia told the Daily Mail: "Maia is deeply regretful for the mistakes she made during her employment with Bubblegum Stuff and her actions afterwards. She was going through a tough time as a new mother and wishes she behaved differently."
The insider added that in an attempt to rectify the situation, Maia's dad had visited the offices of the business. Courtney, after hearing his case, opted against pressing charges against Maia and dropped the incident.
The revelation comes as the tension in the castle continues to ramp up in the BBC show. In intense scenes, Maia - who is a Faithful on the show - turned on sister Armani and voted to banish her after being "60% sure" that she was a Traitor during an incredibly heightened roundtable during last week's set of instalments as the new series kicked off.
Daily Star has contacted a representative for Maia for comment.
The Traitors airs every Wednesday to Friday at 9pm on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
