Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs faces racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution charges after his September 2024 arrest. Diddy’s family has publicly supported him and continues to stand by his side despite damning evidence against him. Now, Diddy’s mother, Janice Combs, and his son, Christian “King” Combs, are allegedly fighting to take over Diddy’s fortune.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ mother and son allegedly want to take over his $400 million fortune

Sean “Diddy” Combs is known as one of the most successful names in hip hop. He founded Bad Boy Records, Combs Wines & Spirits, the fashion and lifestyle brand Sean John, and the multiplatform network REVOLT TV & Media, among other businesses. Unfortunately for Diddy, he can’t use his multimillion dollars while behind bars after his September 2024 arrest.

A source told In Touch Weekly that Diddy’s mother, Janice Combs, and his son, Christian “King” Combs, want control of his fortune.

“Janice thinks she’s the best person to step in,” the source alleged. “But Diddy’s son is just as determined to take the reins. It’s become a full-on showdown, and tensions are skyrocketing!” The insider added that the situation with Diddy’s money is “like a real-life Godfather situation!”

Diddy’s mother raised him in Mount Vernon, New York. His father, Melvin Earl Combs, died by a gunshot at age 33 in 1972. Janice claimed her son was innocent in a statement on Oct. 6, 2024.

“I come to you today as a mother that is devastated and profoundly saddened by the allegations made against my son, Sean Combs,” Janice said in a statement obtained by Us Weekly. “It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies. To bear witness [sic] what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words.”

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ kids and mother might want to take over his finances while he’s behind bars. But he reportedly has a hefty amount of legal fees to take care of. The hip-hop mogul put his $61.5 million Beverly Hills mansion up for sale in September 2024. He bought the property in 2014 for $40 million.

“Defending him against these serious charges is a huge undertaking, and it’s gotten very expensive,” a source told In Touch Weekly. “He will hate to part with it, but he has no other choice.”

He’s also reportedly trying to sell his Gulfstream 550 jet. It costs $60 million upfront and $3.5 million annually for maintenance.

The New York Post reports Mark Geragos, Diddy’s previous representative, said Diddy should expect to spend seven figures on legal fees. “Generally, cases like this are handled on an hourly basis, and Diddy has always availed himself of a top-shelf legal team, which can cost up to $1,750 an hour,” he explained.

The hip-hop mogul discussed becoming ‘very, very rich’ in 1999

Sean “Diddy” Combs always had big plans to achieve megastardom. In 1999, Forbes explained how Diddy was trying to create his image for a “business empire.” And hip-hop music was only a small part of the puzzle.

“It ain’t about spendin’ money, I ain’t foolin’ around,” Diddy said at the time. He added that he was “recording albums,” “opening a multimillion-dollar restaurant,” and “building assets.”

“I wanted to be very, very rich, right away,” Diddy added. He ultimately accomplished what he set out to do (and reached an estimated net worth of around $1 billion). That net worth has declined sharply since his arrest.
