Fearne Cotton' s shock split from musician Jesse Wood has come as a surprise not just to fans, but to their friends as well.

The former kids TV presenter announced the sad news on social media on Friday evening, telling her 3.9 million Instagram followers that they had called time on their relationship. In a short message, Fearne revealed: "It’s with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage. Our priority has been, and will always be, our children."

Celebrity Juice star Fearne, who was still wearing her wedding ring on photos uploaded on social media just two days ago, had been married to Jesse, 48, since 2014. Both had even posted to mark their 10th wedding anniversary in July, sharing a sweet snap showing them back in their wedding attire, holding hands in their beautiful garden.

They met while partying in Ibiza in 2011, with the couple sharing their first date on the island, while Fearne was on a girls' trip following her split with ex Peter Brame. She had just turned 30, and her and Jesse went on to build what appeared to be an idyllic life together.

As well as getting hitched, the couple had two children together, Rex, 11, and Honey, nine. Jesse’s two older children Arthur, 22, and Lola, 18, from his first marriage to Tilly Wood visited regularly, and Fearne had spoken about her love for her two stepchildren.

As the "lovely couple" begin to navigate their break up, one of Fearne's friends has reportedly said that a personal change in Fearne could have been the catalyst for the change in their marriage. As reported by the Mail, a source said: "They are a lovely couple. But Fearne has changed a lot since they got together. She was a kind of rock chick when they first met and now she has turned into a bit of a hippy dippy therapy type."

According to the paper, a friend said that Fearne wasn't "that cool", saying that when she started dating a "Rolling Stones nepo baby", their loved ones "thought they would be together forever". It's reported that Fearne immediately got on with Jesse's family, including his dad, Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood and his younger sister Leah.

Jesse was also welcomed with open arms by Fearne's relatives, after she had experienced a series of unhealthy relationships. Fearne was linked with BBC talent series Fame Academy contestant Peter brame, who admitted smoking crack cocaine, as well as Lost Prophets frontman Ian Watkins. The latter went on to be jailed for 29 years for child sex offences, including the attempted rape of a baby.

The source added that Fearne "wouldn't stop smiling" after she met "handsome and kind" Jesse, who was the polar opposite of her former partners. As the pair grew older together, they turned their back on the hedonistic lifestyle they's shared in their younger days, turning vegan together in 2021.

Jesse, a recovering alcoholic, is now completely sober, while Fearne's brand Happy Place promotes clean eating, yoga and mindfulness, and also has an alcohol-free annual festival, Happy Place, held at Cheshire's Tatton Park. With reports of mental health issues, screaming rows and Fearne's frankness about the highs and lows of married life, the source adds that the Woods and all their friends are hoping "the marriage ends amicably".
