The Los Angeles Fire Department said Monday afternoon that firefighters were battling a fire in Griffith Park.

The LAFD said the brush fire was reported at 1:02 p.m. and involved “light grass burning into medium brush on slope.”

Firefighters were on the scene working to “quickly control” the fire, which was south of Griffith Observatory. According to the Los Angeles Times, smoke from the fire could be seen from nearby in Hollywood.

No evacuations have been ordered.

Griffith Park is home to such L.A. landmarks as Griffith Observatory, the Greek Theatre, the Los Angeles Zoo and the Hollywood Sign. It also contains the Travel Town Museum as well as a merry-go-round.

According to the National Weather Service, Southern California is at “extremely critical risk of fire weather” through Tuesday. Expected are wind gusts of 50-70 miles per hour along the coasts and in the valleys, and 60-100 miles per hour in the foothills and the mountains.

More than 250,000 customers may lose power in a public safety shutoff, according to local reports. More than 5,800 customers had already had their power shut off around 1 p.m. Monday.

News of the Griffith Fire comes as firefighters continue to battle the Palisades Fire, which is at 59 percent containment, and the Eaton Fire, which is 87 percent contained.

The Palisades Fire has burned through 23,713 acres, destroying or damaging nearly 6,000 structures, while the Eaton Fire has burned 14,021 acres, destroying or damaging more than 10,000 structures. Those were just two fires that broke out nearly two weeks ago.

A total of 27 people have died as a result of the wildfires that have blazed across the city. Others included the Hurst, Kenneth and Hollywood fires.

Mandy Moore, Anna Faris, Paris Hilton, Bozoma Saint John, Jeff Bridges, Joshua Jackson, Billy Crystal, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, Cary Elwes, Diane Warren, Cameron Mathison, Ricki Lake, Jhené Aiko, Milo Ventimiglia and record producer Lou Adler are among the luminaries who have confirmed that they have lost their homes in the fires.
