Freddie Gibbs has rejected a report claiming his collab album with Madlib was lost in the L.A. wildfires.
"This cap," Gibbs wrote on X in response to a since-deleted post from NFR Podcast, which read, "Freddie Gibbs & Madlib have reportedly lost a completed album after Madlib's house burned down."
Madlib shared the news that he and his family lost their home on Instagram last week. "We are reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your support in helping legendary producer Madlib and his family after losing their home, decades of music, and equipment in the devastating LA fires," the caption reads.
According to HNHH, Reddit user Igualqueunangel shared an alleged interaction recently with Gibbs in which Madlib's L.A. home was brought up in their conversation and the rapper confessed "they lost an album that was done."
"He walked past me and I was like wtf," the fans wrote. "Had to say hi when he wasn't deep in a convo but he was so nice. We chatted for a bit and I asked about Madlib who lost his house in the fire and he said they lost an album that was done. Crazy anyways wanted to share!"
Gibbs has been teasing the arrival of Montana, the follow-up to 2019's Bandana, since last year.
Gibbs continued to build anticipation for Montana on Instagram in October, declaring, "It's almost about that time."
