Galaxy S25 reportedly still starts at 128GB of storage

The Galaxy S25 is set to launch sometime in January and will bring a few improvements, but many things are looking like they’ll stay the same. That includes the Galaxy S25’s storage options, which will reportedly stick to the same format as last year.

The Galaxy S24 series was a year-over-year improvement over the generation that came before it. Overall, though, a lot felt incredibly similar, and it wasn’t the massive jump a lot had hoped for. The Galaxy S25 series seems to be taking on some of that sentiment.

Arsène Lupin on Twitter/X posted new specs for the Galaxy S25 that pin down the storage options users will see when the device launches. According to that leak, the Galaxy S25 is set to come in a 128GB and 256GB variant, mirroring the S24. The Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra will also see no change YoY, coming in at 256/512GB and 256/512/1GB, respectively.

This comes as news broke that the Galaxy S25 Utlra is also likely to offer 12GB of RAM at the base variant – again, no change since the S24 Ultra. That leak also confirmed that the S25 Ultra would see three familiar storage configurations. It isn’t clear if the lower tier option of each of these models will be limited in color, like the S25 Ultra.

It would be nice to see Samsung up the storage options for the base Galaxy S25, giving users 256GB as the starting offer. Still, other OEMs tend to offer 128GB as the starting point, as is the case with the Pixel 9. As things shift focus on AI and more cloud storage, on-device storage demand isn’t always as high.

The Galaxy S25 series is set to debut on January 22 during one of Samsug’s yearly Unpacked events.
